Each town, with the exception of Teterboro appear in GREEN. When you click on the town name it opens a new window.  All external links to other websites  also open new windows.
Dispatched by means the town is dispatched by another town,  although all towns, including Rockliegh, have base radios on police, fire and SPEN frequencies

"F-1" is the same as channel 1
"Police" is who is on there
"Fire/Ambulance Dispatch"-- what the frequency is used  to alert  the volunteers
"Fire Operations"-- When a fire department gets to a scene the use the operations frequencies
"Fireground"-- a secondary channel or if there are multiple scenes a seperate channel used on a different scene

"Label" Represents the alpha- numeric tag that appears on the radios-- For example 158.9400 displays as  "Municipal" in a Midland Park radio
(callsign) is the FCC issued licensed call sign
PL- stands for "Private Line" which is the same as CTCSS (Continuous Tone Carrier Sub Squelch)
DPL- stands for "Digital Private Line" which is the same as DCS (Digital Carrier Squelch)
*- is t he same as CSQ or Carrier SQuelch meaning there's no tone
?- I don't have a current PL please send it in

One thing to keep in mind about the frequencies listed on Bergenscanner.com . Radios built today have increased memory capacity, just like police scanners. It is a fact that a town has not only their frequencies, but the frequencies of neighboring towns. Especially towns in the same fire mutual aid group. For exmaple Pascack Valley towns have Northern Valley frequencies and vice versa. It should also be noted t hat towns have at least one car with BOTH VHF AND UHF radios no matter what band they are on.

Submitting Information Details: Over the years volunteer firefighters, EMS personnel even police officrs have e-mailed in updates, corrections and other useful information to make Bergenscanner the best source for frequency information for Bergen County . Our policy has always been the people who submit the information will remain anonymus because revealing their identities might jepordize their employment. Some might seek credit for thier contributions however to save me from typing I have decided not to credit anyone. Regular visitors to this site recognize it is a collabortive effort by many people in Bergen County as well as Northern New Jersey. Nobody can hear everything that's going on in one of the busiest counties in the state, if not the country. You can submit corrections or updates to webmaster@bergenscanner.com, please include the name of the town in the subject line so I don't erase it by accident!!

Links on the main page for special events will become active when the events are upcoming and will be deleted when the event is completed. Reoccuring events such as Field Day, the ARRL January VHF Contestand Lighthouses on the Air will always be on the server because they reoccur every year. They just won't be on the main page until the event comes up.
